JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – The East Carolina men's golf team posted its best round of the weekend Sunday in final round of play to place 10th at the 22nd Annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
Head coach Andrew Sapp's team shot 11-under-par 853 for the tournament. The Pirates tallied scorers of 285-286-282 on the par-72, 7,147-yard Blackthorn Club at the Ridges course.
Eighth-ranked Louisville won the event with a 54-hole score of 34-under-par 830 (274-280-276) finishing five strokes ahead of second-place and host East Tennessee State, and seven strokes in front of No. 23 Tennessee in third.
Sophomore A.J. Beechler posted the Pirates' lowest score, tying for 24th at 4-under-par 212 (71-72-69). It was his lowest tournament score of the season.
Senior Blake Taylor and junior Stephen Carroll each finished at 2-under-par 214 and tied for 32nd, while junior Tim Bunten carded a three-day total of par 216 and tied for 39th.
ECU will wrap up its fall schedule at The Intercollegiate at Innisbrook being played at the Innisbrook Resort, site of the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championship, in Palm Harbor, Fla., October 28-29.
