GREENVILLE, N.C. — The most recent NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data released indicates a record 86 percent graduation rate for East Carolina University student-athletes, an increase of two percentage points from the previous all-time high of 84.
Â
Five of ECU's athletics teams had a 100 percent GSR during the tracking period from 2009 through 2012: men's golf, women's golf, soccer, softball and women's swimming and diving.

Additionally, nine teams had a perfect single-year GSR from the most recent cohort year, 2012: men's basketball, men's golf, women's cross country/track and field, women's golf, soccer, softball, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis and volleyball.
Â
"We all hold graduation as the ultimate goal for our student-athletes and these numbers serve as a source of pride for the entire program," ECU Assistant Director of Athletics for Student Development Nita Boyce said. "I am extremely proud of the efforts our student-athletes put forth every day to be successful not only in their athletic pursuits but in their academic studies as well. These graduation numbers are a testament to their hard work and to the support of the entire athletics department toward each student-athlete's earning of a degree."
Â
The Pirates also posted a single-year record 90 percent GSR, which was up eight percentage points from the previous cohort year of 2011-12. ECU also registered Federal Graduation Rate highs for an academic year of 73 percent and four-year average of 70 percent.
