GREENVILLE, N.C. – After two weeks away from home, the ECU women's tennis team will host Davidson on Saturday morning at the River Birch Tennis Complex.
Â
"Davidson beat us 5-2 in our last match two years ago, so we know that the Wildcats will be very solid opponent, and we look forward to another hard-fought match," said head coach Tom Morris. "Davidson is coming off of a great win against Brown and always plays well against ECU. We have had a good week of practice and seem to be a bit healthier overall than in a few of our previous matches; so hopefully we will be ready to continue to play at a high level this Saturday."
Â
ECU (17-2) is on a 17-match winning streak, the longest winning streak in Morris' 20-year career. The Pirates are coming off a 4-2 win at Temple, their third win over an American opponent this season. ECU has been unbeatable at home this season, going 6-0 and outscoring opponents 33-3.
Â
Alisa Diercksen leads ECU with a 20-8 singles mark and she has won 12 straight matches Celia Ruiz is also on a 12-match winning streak and is 14-3 overall. Lisa Hofbauer is just 13-11 this season, but she is 10-3 on court one. Nastja Rettich is second on the team with an 18-6 record while Martina Paladini-Jennings has a 16-6 mark. Rounding out the Pirates with double-digit win totals are Minette Van Vreden (14-10) and Hsia Ho Chiao (10-6).
Â
In doubles, Diercksen and Hofbauer have been ECU's top duo all season and are 16-4 overall, winning 11-straight matches. Ruiz and Van Vreden played together for the first time this spring, but are already 10-1. Chiao and Rettich have been up-and-down as the third ECU pairing, but came through when ECU needed them to, winning at Temple to clinch the doubles point.
Â
Davidson (9-7) has been much better at home this season than on the road, going 6-1 in friendly confines and just 3-6 away from Davidson, N.C. The Wildcats are coming off a 4-3 win against Brown. Elizabeth Truluck leads Davidson with a 12-4 record, having played all of her singles matches on either courts four or five. Samantha Armas (11-4) and Alexandra Abele (11-5) have also reached double-figures in wins for the Wildcats. In doubles, Megan Scholvinck and Truluck are 9-7 as a duo, including 8-7 on the top court. Abele and Armas lead the team with a 10-5 mark as a partnership. The last time ECU took on Davidson was in 2017 when the Wildcats won 5-2.

First serve for the match is scheduled for 10 a.m., on Saturday morning at the River Birch Tennis Complex.Â
