
Pirates Announce 2019-20 ECU Dance Team

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The ECU Department of Athletics is proud to announce the dancers who will make up the 2019-20 ECU Dance Team which was determined by auditions held on Sunday, April 14.
The 2019-20 ECU Dance Team consists of a diverse squad of 20 dancers, featuring 12 returnees and eight newcomers. Performing as a part of the squad again will be Emma Beaty (Belmont), Aysia Bradsher (Burlington), Mary-Claire Choplin (Fuquay-Varina), Olivia Coleman (Monroe), Sara Denton (Gastonia), Lindsay Fisher (Wake Forest), Karley Flynn (Pompton Lakes, N.J.), Kerri Ann Jayne (Clayton), Melanie May (Middlesex, N.J.), Makensie McDaniel (Belmont), Blaire Reagan (Belmont), and Christie Stuckey (Gastonia).  Joining the veterans are sophomores Brooke Katsoudas (Charlotte) and Jensen Lockman (Denver) along with freshmen McKenzie Frey (Ashburn, VA), Mackenzie Haswell (Goldsboro), Kristen Hellar (Rockaway, N.J.), Abygayle Leggett (Hope Mills), Lauryn Mulder (Raleigh), and Mikayla Secrest (Belmont).
Each dancer was judged on technical skills, jazz, hip-hop and pom routines along with a personal interview.
"The talent shown at tryouts this year was outstanding. Not only were the participants talented dancers but all showed a great amount of school spirit for ECU," Coach Kristin Jeffries said. "It is always exciting to select new members to join our Pirate family. I am looking forward to another exciting year!"
