ECU In 10th After Round One Of The American Championship

PALM HARBOR, Fla. --- The ECU men's golf team is in 10th place after round one of the American Athletic Conference Championship at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club. The Pirates carded a team total of 15-over-par 299 during Sunday's opening round.
SMU is the team leader at 1-over-par 285, followed by Memphis in second-place at 2-over-par 286. South Florida sits alone in third-place at 6-over-par 290 with Temple and UCF tied for fourth at 7-over-par 291.
The individual leader is SMU's McClure Meissner at 5-over-par 66. South Florida's Albin Bergstrom (-2, 69) three strokes back in second-place with four additional players four strokes behind at 1-under-par.
Junior Blake Taylor posted ECU's lowest score of the day with a 2-over-par 73. Taylor stood 1-under-par through 15 holes before a triple bogey on the 16th hole pushed him to 2-over-par. He parred the final two holes of the round to finish the day tied for 17th.
Sophomore Stephen Carroll carded a 3-over-par 74 to end the day tied for 22nd with freshman A.J. Beechler and sophomore Tim Bunten each firing a 5-over-par 76 to finish round one tied for 36th. Junior Patrick Stephenson shot 8-over-79.
Round two tees off Monday, April 22, at 7:30 a.m. with ECU playing alongside Houston.
