ECU Adds NC State Transfer Kama Woodall To Softball Roster

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Kama Woodall, a right-handed pitcher who spent the first two seasons of her collegiate career at NC State, has signed a grant-in-aid agreement to attend East Carolina University and compete for the Pirates beginning with the 2020 season according to an announcement by fifth-year head coach Courtney Oliver Friday.

Woodall was 3-3 with a 3.06 ERA in 2019 – the top mark on the squad. She struck out 29 batters in 50.1 innings of work and held opposing hitters to a .256 batting average as well as recording a pair of saves. Woodall turned in a fine showing during the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament, tossing 7.2 innings and allowing no earned runs. She picked up the save in the Wolfpack's 3-2 upset of top-seeded Virginia Tech in the quarterfinal round. Woodall also notched a save in the first-round victory over Syracuse, closing out the contest with three perfect innings.

As a freshman, Woodall compiled a 9-10 record and 3.31 ERA in 105.2 innings of work. She tossed seven complete games and struck out a career-best six batters against Ball State at the FGCU Kickoff Classic. Woodall also threw a combined shutout with Devin Wallace in the team's win over Elon and teamed up with Brittany Nimmo to no-hit Wagner.

Woodall was part of NC State's 17th-ranked recruiting class and chose the Wolfpack over other offers from programs in the ACC and Pac-12. She was tabbed No. 93 by FloSoftball among 2017 recruits and the eighth-best prospect from the state of Florida. A three-time all-state selection in Florida, Woodall led her teams to two state championships, three semifinals appearances and four regional championships. She was selected the state's 6A Pitcher of the Year in 2016 as well as Pinellas County Pitcher of the Year in 2015 and 2014.
