Pirates Continue Fall Season At Old Town Club

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --- The East Carolina men's golf team will compete against its toughest field to date Monday and Tuesday at the 2019 Old Town Club Collegiate, which features five teams ranked in the latest Golfweek Top 20 headlined by No. 1 Wake Forest.
Joining the Pirates and host Demon Deacons are No. 7 Louisville, the tournament's defending champion, No. 8 Washington, No. 13 Penn State and No. 17 West Virginia. Augusta, Cincinnati, Georgia Southern, Loyola (Md.), Rutgers, Virginia Tech and Yale round out the field.
ECU, Cincinnati, Louisville, Penn State and Wake Forest all competed at the Rod Myers Invitational in Durham Last weekend with the Demon Deacons, Cardinals and Nittany Lions finished first, third and fourth, while the Pirates claimed eighth and the Bearcats 11th.
Two rounds on Monday begin with a 7:30 a.m. ET tee time for the first with continuous play into the second round. ECU will play alongside Augusta and Penn State during rounds one and two.
ECU seniors Blake Taylor and Patrick Stephenson, who each finished in the top 20 at the inaugural Old town Club Collegiate a year ago, make the return to Triad along with junior Stephen Carroll and junior A.J. Beechler. Attie Giles will make his tournament debut.
The Pirates placed seventh at the tournament last season, carding a 5-under-par 835. Stephenson finished at 4-under-par, Taylor 2-under-par, Beechler 1-over-par and Carroll 2-over-par.
