
Pirates Sweep Men's Weekly Conference Awards

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina University men's swimming and diving swept the American Athletic Conference weekly awards this week as sophomore Marek Osina and freshman Rodrigo Romero were named the Swimmer and Diver-of-the-Week, respectively.
Osina was named The American Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week for the second time this season and fifth time overall, while Romero was named The American Men's Diver-of-the-Week for the third time.
Osina earned three first-place finishes during the dual meet against South Carolina on Saturday. He claimed wins in the 200 freestyle (1:40.83), the 200 backstroke (1:48.20) and the 200 IM (1:50.63), adding a victory as a member of the 200 medley relay team.
Romero captured second-place in the 1-meter dive with 339.00 points and became the first diver in program history to score over 400 points with a 400.50-point effort in a runner-up showing in the 3-meter dive versus the Gamecocks.
ECU wraps up its dual meet season Jan. 25 at UMBC before beginning preparations for the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships, which commence Feb. 19 in Houston.
