GREENVILLE, N.C. – Coming off a nailbiting finish that did not go its way, the ECU women's tennis team will try to get back in the win column with a trip to William & Mary on Saturday afternoon.
"It has been a difficult start to the year with several top opponents on the road and William & Mary is no exception," said associate head coach Kirstin Burgess. "We are trying our best to rest, recover and get healthy so that we can finish this last stretch with a win."

ECU (3-4) is ranked No. 48 in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, but dropped its first match as a ranked team, falling 4-3 at App State. The Pirates had been 3-0 in matches that finished 4-3 before the loss to the Mountaineers. Nastja Rettich (10-9) and Sibel Tanik (10-11) lead the team with 10 singles victories each and both picked up wins against App State. Michelle Ncube has nine wins of her own. Minette Van Vreden has a three-match winning streak currently, the longest active streak. Lisa Hofbauer had her three-match win streak snapped against App State, but is 3-3 on court one this year. In doubles, Hofbauer and Tanik are 4-5 and have played all of ECU's matches on court one. Ncube and Rettich lead the team with six wins while Ho Chiao Hsia and Van Vreden are 4-4 together as a tandem.

William & Mary (4-2) started the year 3-0, but has won just one of its last three matches. The Tribe most recently topped Georgia State 4-1 in a neutral site match in Des Moines, Iowa. At home, William & Mary is 3-1, beating George Washington, Winthrop and Dartmouth and falling to Wake Forest. Mila Saric leads the Tribe with an 11-5 singles record and is 3-0 on court two. Elisa Van Meeteren and Vitoria Okuyama each have nine wins. In doubles, Charlotte Madson and Van Meeteren are a combined 5-2, including 5-1 on court three. Okuyama and Saric have played all of William & Mary's matches on court one and are 4-3 together.
