GREENVILLE, N.C. – With just two games left in the regular season, the ECU women's basketball team will host Tulane on Saturday in the final home game of the season.
Â
ECU (8-19, 5-9 AAC) had its three-game winning streak when the Pirates lost 81-52 at South Florida. For the first time all season, ECU had more turnovers than in opponent, helping USF take the win. Despite that, ECU is still second in the country in steals per game (13.4) and turnovers forced (23.89) and fifth in turnover margin (+7.93). Lashonda Monk and Dominique Claytor both have the chance to stamp their names in the ECU record books. Monk has 108 steals this season, ranking third in the country and currently ranks fourth on ECU's single-season list. She has a chance to pass her career-high of 116 which she set last year and could make a run at Toina Coley's ECU record which stands at 123. Along with her single season total, Monk needs nine steals to break UConn's Gabby Williams' AAC record of 307 career steals. Claytor has 85 takeaways this season, which is sixth on ECU's single-season list. She needs six to overtake Toina Coley's 1991-92 season for fifth place. Claytor also has 177 career steals and with two more steals, she will move into ninth place on ECU's career list. Taniyah Thomson continues to lead all AAC rookies in scoring (13.9 ppg), steals (2.0) and minutes played (34.8 mgp). Tiara Chambers has been a force on the defensive end lately, swatting 10 shots over the past three games. She is now sixth in the league in rejections, averaging 1.1 per game.

Tulane (12-15, 7-7 AAC) started conference play strong, winning its first six AAC games. However, the Green Wave has lost six straight games and seven of eight. Tulane will have had nearly a week to regroup after last playing last Sunday in an 87-63 loss at Cincinnati. Krystal Freeman leads the Green Wave in both scoring (14.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.6 rpg). Freeman ranks highly among the conference in a variety of categories. She is tied with Monk for eighth in the conference in scoring and ninth in the league in rebounding as well as fifth in field goal percentage (.455), tied for ninth in steals per game (1.7), seventh in 3-point percentage (.348) and 11th in minutes played (33.7 mpg). Arsula Clark is the only other player on Tulane scoring at least 10 points each game, averaging 12.3 ppg. Clark does a lot of her scoring at the free throw line, as she ranks 30th in the country in free throw attempts (160) and 64th in free throws made (104). As a team, Tulane is 41st in the nation in blocked shots, with 119. Mia Heide leads the team and is second in the AAC with 51 rejections. The Green Wave does struggle with protecting the ball, ranking 307th in the nation in turnovers per game as Tulane gives the ball away 18.7 times per game.
Â
Tulane has a large 18-7 lead in the all-time series. The last meeting between the two schools was won by ECU, with the Pirates claiming a 63-61 home win. It snapped a five-game losing streak to the Green Wave. Since the two schools moved to the AAC during the 2014-15 season, the Pirates are just 2-6 against Tulane. ECU has only beaten Tulane twice in a row once, winning in January of 2013 and 2014. In Minges Coliseum, ECU has a 2-8 record against Tulane. Finally, on Senior Day, ECU has an all-time record of 31-19 and is 4-1 since joining the AAC. Last year, ECU defeated SMU 67-61 to end the regular-season.
