Ryan Davis Named AAC Male Field Athlete Of The Week
February 04, 2020 | Men's Track and Field, Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Senior Ryan Davis has been tabbed the American Athletic Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week, according to an announcement by the league Tuesday.
Â
The selection is the second of Davis' career as he earned the award back on Jan. 30 of the 2018 campaign.
Â
Davis set the ECU and Carolina Indoor Track and Field Complex record in the weight throw at the Carolina Challenge over the weekend in Columbia, S.C. His mark of 22.20 meters currently leads the conference and is fourth nationally.
Â
"We are extremely excited for Ryan Davis," Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Curt Kraft said. "I can't think of another student-athlete that is so deserving of this award. Ryan has worked extremely hard over the years to get to this point in his career. Coach David Price has done an excellent job of developing him and getting him to this point. Ryan is not only representing ECU, but also eastern North Carolina. He is a prime example of when you put the time and effort into making yourself great, it all pays dividends in the end. There are even greater things to come for Ryan in the very near future."
Â
Davis and his teammates return to action this weekend at the Doc Hale Elite Meet in Blacksburg, Va., as well as the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
