Pirates Set To Host ECU Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The East Carolina men's golf team is set to host the annual ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley on Monday and Tuesday, March 22-23, at Brook Valley Country Club.

The two-day, 54-hole event will include the host Pirates along with Appalachian State, Boston College, Coastal Carolina, Delaware, Gardner-Webb, Loyola (Md.), Maryland, NC Central, Oakland, VCU and Winthrop. Competition begins Monday morning at 7:45 a.m. off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees, followed by the second round. The final round begins Tuesday at 8 a.m.

The par-72 track measures 6,755 yards for this week's competitors.

Brook Valley is hosting the Pirates' spring home tournament for the fifth time since 2016 after last season's event was canceled due to theCOVID-19 pandemic. ECU has won the event three times previously with one runner-up finish. Fifth-year senior Patrick Stephenson earned medalist honors in 2018.

ECU will field a pair of five-man teams this week with Stephenson, Stephen Carroll, A.J. Beechler, Tim Bunten and Jack Massei comprising one squad and Jimbo Stanley, Attie Giles, Jake Calamaro, Chris Sperrazza and Connor Jones the other.

Carroll owns the team's lowest scoring average with 73.44 strokes per round followed by Stephenson at 74.22 strokes per round.
