Pirates Head To The Triangle For Stitch Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. – With only two weeks until the 2021 American Athletic Conference Championship, East Carolina will hold its final tune up this weekend at the Stitch Intercollegiate, hosted by NC State, at MacGregor Downs Golf Club in Cary.

Fifth-year senior Patrick Stephenson, senior Stephen Carroll, along with juniors A.J. Beechler and Attie Giles, and sophomore Chris Sperrazza will compete in the two-day, 54-hole events which begins Friday, April 9.

ECU is coming off a ninth-place finish at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate a week ago, with Beechler posting his best performance of the season, tying for fourth place at 1-under-par. Beechler, Carroll and Stephenson are each shooting 3-over-par on average this season.

Beechler and Carroll each shot 2-over-par at the 2019 Stitch Intercollegiate, while fired a 7-over-par.

The Pirates and Wolfpack will be joined by Campbell, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, Davidson, Denver, Duke, East Tennessee State, Elon, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.

Following the Stitch Intercollegiate, ECU heads to The American Championship, which will be held at the Southern Hills Golf Club in Brooksville, Fla., April 23-25.
