GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina soccer team will travel to #4 Memphis for the AAC Tournament First Round game on Sunday. The matchup is slated for a 2 p.m. kickoff streaming on ESPN+.
The Set Up
The Pirates took a draw against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Senior Night to shore up a 5th-place finish in the conference. However, late drama elsewhere shifted the standings at the gun. A last-second SMU goal to upset Memphis with just 18 seconds in the regular season dropped the Tigers from third to fourth, setting up the date with the Pirates. With the draw, Cincinnati took third and will play SMU on Sunday.

Scouting the Tigers
There isn't much to say that hasn't been said before, Memphis is a tough out. The Tigers sunk the Pirates 4-0 earlier this month and will enter this game hungry following an upset loss to end the regular season. Six Tigers have three-or-more goals on the year, led by Mya Jones with six. Jocelyn Alonzo leads the way with 16 points for Memphis on five goals and six assists.
The Pirates will be forced to learn from their first trip to Memphis if they want to keep the season going. History is not on the side of ECU, however, as Memphis has dominated the all-time series 17-3-3 including the blowout win at home last time out. Something has to give for the Pirates to earn a trip to the second round and a date with UCF.
