GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU tests its mettle against a nationally-ranked American Athletic Conference opponent this weekend when it travels to Orlando for a three-game series with No. 20 UCF. The Knights currently sit atop the league standings at 6-0.

The series begins Thursday evening at 6 p.m. All three contests will stream live via ESPN+.

East Carolina (19-21, 2-7 AAC) was swept at home by Houston last weekend, dropping to 2-7 in conference play. The Pirates are sixth in the AAC standings with three series remaining in the regular season.

Entering the weekend, ECU ranks third among American Conference squads in batting average (.279) and fourth in earned run average (4.10). The Pirates also lead the league in doubles (56) and are third in runs scored (200). Individually, Jocelyn Alonso and Faith Jarvis slot seventh and ninth in batting average while Bailee Wilson paces the circuit in doubles (12).

East Carolina won its first AAC road series of the campaign in Memphis March 25-27, falling in a one-run contest in the opener before rebounding with consecutive victories to close out the weekend. The Pirates are 6-3 on the road in 2022 with additional wins at College of Charleston and N.C. Central.

The Competition
UCF (34-10, 6-0 AAC) polished off a sweep of Memphis in Orlando last weekend, outscoring the Tigers 18-0 in the three contests. The Knights are hitting .300 collectively while the pitching staff sports a 2.41 ERA with 232 strikeouts in 287.1 innings of work.

The UCF Series
UCF leads the all-time series with East Carolina by a 28-20 margin. The Pirates have dropped the last 11 meetings with the Knights, last recording a victory back on May 10, 2017 in the quarterfinal round of the American Athletic Conference Softball Championship in Greenville. ECU is 10-10 against UCF in Orlando.
