GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina soccer will host the Old Dominion Monarchs on Sunday at Johnson Stadium. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Attendance is free to the public and the game will be available for streaming on the ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Pirates earned their first victory of the season with a 2-0 defeat of the High Point Panthers on Thursday. Grace Doran scored with an assist from Sydney Schnell in the 10th minute before a High Point own goal extended the lead to 2-0 where it would remain. The Pirates held the Panthers to just one shot on the game which did not come until the 83rd minute.

Scouting the Monarchs
Old Dominion has found consistency, if not the kind of consistency they want, this season. A pair of 1-0 defeats at the hands of Auburn and William & Mary marks the Monarchs' 0-2-0 record. The trip to Greenville marks the final one of a long road trip before ODU finally gets their first home game of the 2021 season on Thursday.
Â
Last season was a successful one for the Monarchs, ending with an NCAA Tournament berth resulting in a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of the top-seeded Duke Blue Devils in Durham, N.C.
Â
Series History
Old Dominion leads the all-time series 14-8-2. The first matchup of the series was in 1994, the first year of the ECU program. It was a 1-4 defeat for the Pirates that day. More recently, the two teams matched up twice last season, first in August - a 2-1 overtime victory for the Monarchs; then again in October, once again a victory for Old Dominion, 1-0.

Quotable
"The games are coming thick and fast now and we couldn't be more excited to back out in Johnson Stadium tomorrow," said Head Coach Gary Higgins. "We have another NCAA tournament team , Old Dominion, coming into town, so we will have to perform very well to get a result.
"I was very proud of our performance against High Point on Thursday night and I felt we played on the front foot the whole game. We will need Pirate Nation out in full force on Sunday evening, to cheer us on against another strong opponent. Thanks and as always, Go Pirates!"
