Last Time Out
The Pirates lost their unbeaten streak at seven with a 1-0 loss to the William & Mary Tribe on Sunday at home. The Pirates outshot the Tribe 11-9 but were unable to capitalize on chances and were ultimately felled by Elaina Longjohn's 65th minute goal.

Scouting the Cougars
Houston enters the contest with a 4-3-1 record on the season and a 1-0 mark in AAC play thus far with a 2-1 victory over South Florida. The Cougars have spread the wealth with eight players scoring goals and 10 recording points.
Â
The Cougars enter 2022 after a successful 2021 campaign with a 13-5-2 (5-2-1) record and a second-place finish in the conference in the regular season. In the AAC Preseason Poll, Houston was picked in a tie for fifth but also managed to garner a single first-place vote.

Series History
East Carolina leads the all-time series 13-5-1, including a 5-2-1 mark at home. The Pirates have won the last two matchups, one home and one away, both 1-0 overtime matchups. Prior to the 2021 spring season, Houston had won three straight games in the series; however, ECU won 11 of the first 13 games in the series, then tying the 14th dating back to the start of the series in 2001. Since joining the American Athletic Conference in 2014, the Pirates are 5-3-1 against the Cougars.

Quotable
"We are excited to be back playing in Johnson Stadium and to be competing in AAC conference play again," said Head Coach Gary Higgins. "University of Houston are coming to town and they are a very talented and well coached team. They finished 2nd in the conference last year and have had some impressive results so far this season.
"We are looking to continue our momentum in conference play and we can't wait to compete in front of Pirate Nation. Thanks and Go Pirates!"
