GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's soccer team will take a brief pause from conference play for a matchup with UNC Greensboro on Sunday at 5 p.m. Attendance is free for fans and the game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Pirates got back in the win column with a 1-0 defeat of the Houston Cougars on Thursday at Johnson Stadium. Jazmin Ferguson scored the winner on a corner assisted by Sierra Lowery, her first career goal. The Pirates also earned their fifth shutout of the season.

Scouting the Spartans
UNC Greensboro enters Sunday's matchup carrying a 4-4-1 record (1-0 in SoCon play) featuring wins over Liberty and High point, a draw with VCU, but a 5-1 loss to UNCW. The Spartans were also the first team on the year to score on Duke, notching one goal in a 3-1 defeat. Six players have scored thus far on the season, led by Maddy Gilhool with five goals, including one in the Spartans 3-0 win over VMI last time out.
Â
The Spartans entered 2022 following an inconsistent 2021 campaign which ended with a 4-8-6 record and a 3-4-2 mark in SoCon play.
Â
Series History
The all-time series between the Pirates and Spartans is level at three wins apiece and no draws. Beginning in 2010, UNCG won the first two before ECU went on a three-game run. UNCG won the last matchup of the series, three years ago in Greensboro by a 1-0 margin.
Â
Quotable
"We are excited to wrap up our non-conference schedule against UNCG tomorrow," said Head Coach Gary Higgins. "We will need to perform at a very high level to get the desired result. We need to ride the momentum from a well-earned victory vs Houston on Thursday night and continue to take steps forward as a program.
Â
"We hope Pirate nation can make it out to Johnson Stadium to support us. Thanks and Go Pirates!"
