GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina soccer will travel to Richmond, Va. on Sunday for a matchup with the VCU Rams. The game is set for 2 p.m. and will be available streaming on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Pirates pushed their streak to three straight with a 1-0 win over UNCW. Annabelle Abbott scored her first goal of the season for the game winner, assisted by Catherine Holbrook – her first assist of the season. With the win, ECU's clean-sheet streak also moved to three games, the longest such streak since Oct. 2018.
Â
Scouting the Rams
VCU enters the game off of their first victory of a draw-heavy season. A 1-0 win over William & Mary finally put a one in the win column after three draws and a solitary loss on the road against a ranked N.C. State side. Like ECU, four Rams goas have been scored by four different players.
Â
The Rams went 13-4 a season ago, including a 9-1 mark in conference play. VCU did go on to lose to Saint Joseph's in the Atlantic 10 tournament 1-0.
Â
Series History
Virginia Commonwealth leads the all-time series 7-4-1; however, it was the Pirates who took the most recent matchup, almost exactly a year ago during the 2021 season. That game was a 2-0 margin with Kim Sanford and Morgan Dewey scoring goals. The series as a whole dates back to 1995 and has consisted largely of multi-game streaks for VCU broken up by ECU wins. All four East Carolina wins have come on the road in the series, a trend the Pirates surely hope to break.
Â
Quotable
"We are headed on the road again tomorrow to play against a very strong VCU team," said Head Coach Gary Higgins. "They have been tested from a scheduling standpoint, just like us, early on this season, so we know we will have to be at our best to get a positive result up there.
Â
"We were extremely proud of the team in our game at UNCW. They are a very well coached team, and extremely physical, and we were able to ride a wave in the second half and protect our 1-0 lead. That was valuable experience for our young squad and something we can use for future games. We look forward to tomorrow and will be ready to represent Pirate Nation with passion. Thanks and Go Pirates!"
