GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina soccer team concludes the regular season with Senior Day on Thursday as they host Charlotte in Johnson Stadium. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. and is free to attend.

The game will also be available for streaming on ESPN+ with Zach Berly and Emily Gray on the call.

Last Time Out
The Pirates earned a point in most dramatic fashion on Sunday at North Texas. After conceding twice in the first half, the Pirates went all out on the attack in the second half and roared back for a 2-2 draw which looked at times like the Pirates might steal a winner. Samantha Moxie and Abby Sowa (PK) scored the goals to level the score in the 58th and 77th minutes, respectively.

Scouting the 49ers
After a stunning win over North Texas, Charlotte was tripped up last time out with a 1-0 loss at SMU. Still, the 49ers have had a strong opening campaign in the American Athletic Conference with an 7-6-4 mark overall and a 3-3-2 league record. Tash Hudson is leading the team offensively with seven goals while Emma Wakeman has been tremendous in goal with a .833 save percentage.
Series History
The Pirates and 49ers have met 16 times throughout their histories, but not since 2019. Charlotte holds an 8-7-1 edge in the series. The Pirates did take the last meeting back in 2019 by a 1-0 margin, though. Cashlin Copley scored the winner that day with assists by Tori Riggs and Daria Draovitch.
Â
Pomp and Circumstance
The Pirates will be honoring six outgoing seniors on Thursday with the class of: Brooke Burzynski, Catherine Holbrook, Maggie Leland, Sierra Lowery, Adison May, Rachael Wilsynski.
Â
The Stakes
The Pirates are still in the hunt for the East Division title and the scenarios are as follows:
- ECU wins the division with a win and South Florida loss.
- South Florida wins division with a win.
- ECU and South Florida split the division with an ECU win and USF draw. In this scenario, ECU would get the two seed via head-to-head tiebreak.
All told, the Pirates may end up anywhere from second to fifth in the league, but a win secures a top-three spot.
Paging All Scallywags
The Pirates rank third in the American Conference in attendance by percentage of total capacity with an average attendance percentage of 50.72. Pirate Nation has brought out two of the top 10 crowds in program history against George Mason and Memphis and will have a chance to do even better Thursday. The Johnson Stadium attendance record is 1,335.
