GREENVILLE, N.C. – After dropping two of three at Houston in its initial American Athletic Conference series of the season, No. 12 East Carolina looks to bounce back when it opens an eight-game homestand against NC State Tuesday evening at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. First pitch is slated for 5:30 p.m. and the contest will air live to a national audience on ESPNU.

Chris Cotter and Danny Graves will have the call on the broadcast while Scooter Rogers and Dr. Gary Overton will handle radio duties on 94.3 The Game.

ECU returns to the friendly confines of Lewis Field at Clark-LeClair Stadium where they are 16-2 this season despite falling to UNCW last Tuesday. The Pirates are 1-1 in midweek home games with a 6-5 win over William & Mary and the 9-3 loss to the Seahawks.

East Carolina ranks 10th nationally in earned run average (3.37) and has struck out 293 batters against 93 walks. Opponents are hitting just .229 off the Pirate pitching staff – a unit that has fanned double-digit hitters in 14 contests. Offensively, ECU is batting .290 with 57 doubles, five triples and 30 home runs. Justin Wilcoxen owns a current 12-game hitting streak and is hitting a team-best .349. He did not appear in any of the games in Houston.

NC State (20-8) picked up a nice series win over the weekend, taking two of three from Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Louisville at Doak Field at Dail Park in Raleigh. Eli Serrano III tops the club with a .390 batting average while Payton Green has collected a team-high 38 hits – including seven doubles and eight home runs. The Wolfpack pitchers boast a collective 3.64 ERA with 255 strikeouts and 87 walks in 247.1 innings of work.

NC State leads the series with East Carolina 70-41 and has won four of the last five meetings. The Pirates last defeated the Wolfpack in 2019 at the NCAA Greenville Regional - a 9-2 victory in an elimination game at Clark-LeClair Stadium. NC State swept the season home-and-home set a year ago, winning 2-0 in Greenville and 12-3 in Raleigh.
