Pirates Battle No. 2 North Carolina in Final Soccer Exhibition

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The East Carolina soccer team competed in their second and final preseason exhibition game against the No. 2 North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday at Dorrance Field. The Pirates put together a valiant effort with two goals allowed on the day for the 2-0 final.

Facing off against second-ranked North Carolina, who won their first exhibition 8-1, the Pirates were able to hold their own. Despite recording only three shots, the team did not allow UNC their normal explosive output with 20 shots – five coming on goal – but only two being converted, both in the first half.

Bella Ember scored on a solo effort in the sixth minute while Tori Dellaperuta scored on a Tessa Delarose free kick in the 32^nd minute for the two Tar Heel goals.

Catherine Holbrook had the Pirates best chance of the day as she got behind the defense on a second-half breakaway but was unable to convert.
