Pirates Set to Battle North Florida Sunday

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's soccer team will remain in Florida for a tilt with North Florida at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Pirates opened the season on Thursday night against a rejuvenated Florida Gators side where they fell in a competitive match in which Florida simply found the frame when ECU didn't. Maddy Pirrello scored one from the run of play while the Pirates saw several juicy second-half chances trickle wide of either post. A late penalty by Oakley Rasmussen pushed the margin to two and put the game away, making the margin look worse than it really was.

Scouting the Ospreys
North Florida opened their season with a 3-0 thumping of Air Force at home on Thursday. Allie Fekany, Sydney Hauth and Liz Fogerty converted goals on the day as the Osprey's outshot Air Force 15-8, including a 9-4 margin in shots on goal. Interestingly, North Florida and ECU share a common foe as the Osprey's drew Florida 0-0 in their final exhibition match.

The Ospreys enter 2023 after a 4-7-5 (3-3-4 ASUN) campaign a season ago. Allie Fekany led the team with four goals scored while Sofia Miliancano got the majority of the work in goal with an impressive .889 save percentage. Both players return in 2023.

Series History
Sunday's match will be the first ever meeting between East Carolina and North Florida.
