
Nathan O’Neal Finishes Tied For 10th At Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

LOXLEY, Ala. – Sophomore Nathan O'Neal posted a final round score of 68 (4-under par) finishing tied for 10th at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational on Sunday. The two-day, 54-hole event was being played at the par-72, 7,096-yard Steelwood Country Club.
Nathan O'Neal finished with a 6-under par score of 210 with rounds of 68, 74 and 68 for his second consecutive Top 10 finish of the year and fourth Top 20 of the fall to lead the Pirates. He finished the event with one eagle, 12 birdies, 33 pars and a double bogey.
"It was a tough weekend for the Pirates," said ECU Director of Golf/Men's Head Coach Kevin Williams. "In a strong field the margin for error is small and we made too mistakes to overcome. I am really proud of Nathan O'Neal and the way he played golf this weekend and the fall semester for us."
Junior Philip Linberg Bondestad (75-72-76) and senior Tyler DeChellis (73-78-72) both finished tied for 56th at 223. Senior Carter Busse (74-77-74) claimed a share of 63rd after posting a 235, while Drew O'Neal finished tied for 70th at 228 (78-70-80).
Nationally ranked Illinois (No. 12) won the team portion of the event with an (834/276-283-275), which was 30-under which was two shots ahead of Kennesaw State (836) and 12 shots over Kansas State (846). Rice (850) and Memphis (853) placed fourth and fifth to round out the Top 5.
The Pirates will open the spring portion of their schedule on Monday, Feb. 17 when they participate in the Wexford Intercollegiate, which will be played in Hilton Head, S.C.
