Pirates Set for 2024 AAC Indoor Championships
February 22, 2024 | Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track & field program is set to travel to Birmingham, Ala. for the 2024 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Thursday and Friday. Hosted at the Birmingham Crossplex, the meet will be available for streaming on both days on ESPN+.
Â
The Pirates enter the meet after a successful regular season in which the team made 23 new entries into the program's all-time top 10 lists. The team looks poised to use that success to propel them into the conference championships.
Â
Last season, the team earned a seventh-place result on the men's side and a ninth-place finish for the women. The Pirates will be searching for the team's first podium finish since the 2014 CUSA Indoor Championships in which the men finished third and the women took the team title.

Quotable
"Both teams are extremely excited for the upcoming AAC Indoor Championships this weekend in Birmingham," said Director of Track & Field Curt Kraft. "Everyone gets a little anxious but at the same time they are fired up and ready to compete their hearts out. Both teams have put a lot of preparation in over the last few months to hopefully peak at this meet. One of the things that I have been most pleased with during this indoor season is how much energy and excitement they have competed with each and every weekend. We hope that momentum carries us into this weekend. As a coaching staff, we wouldn't be one bit surprised if some real special things happen this weekend in all event areas."
