GREENVILLE, N.C. – No. 11 East Carolina begins a new week by heading south to the Port City of Wilmington for a Tuesday evening appointment with UNCW. First pitch at Brooks Field is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Pirates (10-4) put together their first non-conference road series sweep since 2020 over the weekend, downing Liberty in a three-game set in Lynchburg. ECU posted come-from-behind wins both Saturday and Sunday after coasting to a 9-5 victory in the opener.

The Pirates look to capture their first midweek win of the campaign after dropping airtight one-run decisions on the road to a pair of quality foes in Campbell and Old Dominion.

East Carolina currently owns the best team ERA in the American Athletic Conference at 3.66, having racked up 170 strikeouts against just 54 walks in 125.1 innings of work. The Pirates have also played a clean brand of baseball through 14 games, leading the nation in fielding percentage (.988). Senior infielder Carter Cunningham slots 17th among NCAA Division I hitters with a .474 batting average while pacing the league in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS, runs scored and hits.

The Seahawks (9-7) climbed over the .500 mark by sweeping Saint Joseph's at home over the weekend in a trio of one-run decisions. Trevor Marsh leads the squad in batting average (.396) while Tanner Thach is hitting .310 and is tops for UNCW in home runs (seven) and RBI (21). Collectively, the Seahawks are batting .238 with 21 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs, 81 walks drawn and 18 stolen bases. The pitching staff sports a 3.85 ERA with 156 strikeouts and 84 walks in 145.0 innings. UNCW has played 12 home games so far and has compiled an 8-4 record in those contests.
