
Pirates Finish Third At Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The East Carolina men's golf team posted a third-place finish in its first tournament of the year posting a 54-hole score of 850 (14-under) at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate. The three-day event was being held at the par-72, 7,578-yard Grande Dunes Golf Resort.

ECU opened the event with a 1-under par 287 before shooting a tournament-best 278 (10-under) on Monday and closed out the day with a 3-under par 285 and finishing two strokes ahead of host Coastal Carolina. Santa Clara (21-under, 843) won the team title followed by Campbell (18-under, 846) just ahead of the Pirates.

"It was a good start this week in our first tournament of the year," said ECU Director of Golf/Men's Head Coach Kevin Williams." We were very solid all week and I am excited for this team! The team showed a lot of grit this week on a long and touch course."

Junior Philip Linberg Bondestad let the Pirates posting a tournament score of 211 (5-under) that consisted of rounds of 70, 68 and 73 for a share of sixth place. Sophomore Adam Lennermark finished tied for 12th with a score of 212 (4-under) after carding scores of 71, 71 and 70.

Sophomore Nathan O'Neal shot a 3-under 213 tying for 16th place, while senior Carter Busse had a Top 20 finish (t19th) with a score of 214 (2-under par). Rounding out the Pirates roster was sophomore Drew O'Neal finishing tied for 58th at 223 (7-over). Playing as an individual for ECU was freshman Luke Mosley who took a share of 32nd place in his first collegiate event after posting a final score of 217 (1-over).

The Pirates return to action on Monday, Sept. 16 when they participate in the River Run Collegiate in Davidson, N.C.
