Last Time Out
The Pirates will enter Thursday looking to bounce back from a second-straight 2-0 loss, this time against UTSA last time out. Tyler Coker and Sasjah Dade scored the goals for UTSA while Lucy Fazackerley and Emma Sheehan had the Pirates two shots on frame out of 19 total shots in the game. Maeve English made one save in goal.
Scouting Charlotte
The 49ers have had an odd season with their 1-6-3 record. Losses to UNCW and UNCG along with a draw at App State look puzzling next to a draw against a ranked Clemson side and a draw with South Florida in their conference opener. The side will enter Thursday off of a 2-1 loss to Florida Atlantic on the road. Macey Bader leads the team offensively with two of their five goals scored on the season while Emma Wakeman has played every minute in goal with 34 saves and a .708 save percentage, including shutting out three opponents.
Series History
The Pirates and 49ers have met 18 times over the years with a 10-7-1 edge for Charlotte, including a two-game sweep last season. Most recently, the Pirates fell by a 5-0 margin in the American Athletic Conference Tournament to end last season. The five Charlotte goals were scored by four different players with Macey Bader doubling up to lead the way with a pair of tallies.
Iron Woman
Abby Sowa has played in every game and not come off for a second since Oct. 17, 2021. She has played 4,530 consecutive minutes and has been on the pitch for all 810 minutes this season. That's two full seasons and 50 full games.
Iron Women II
Annabelle Abbott with her next start will enter the program ranks at 10th in ECU history in career starts at 75. Maeve English now has 76 career starts and remains on pace to break the program record for career starts (Madison Keller, 82 - consecutively).
