GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina volleyball team returns to the friendly confines of Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum this Sunday at noon when the Pirates take on Tulane for the team's American Conference home opener.
The Pirates (8-6, 0-3 American) are seeking their first league win of the 2025 season as well as aiming to snap a five-match skid. The last win for the Pirates came inside Minges on Sept. 16 in the team's home opener that saw ECU rally to defeat Wake Forest in five sets.
Ellie Pate leads the Pirates offensively with 179 kills while Kai Bailey and Brooklyn Allison lead the team in blocks (65) and digs (207) respectively.
Looking at Tulane
Tulane (9-5, 1-2 American) enters Sunday coming off a four-set loss to Charlotte on Friday night. Avery Burks leads the Green Wave in kills with 240 and is second in the American in kills per set at 4.42. Sabrina Skyers (46 blocks) and Ava Derbes (36 blocks) lead Tulane defensively at the net.
The Tulane Series
Tulane leads the all-time series with East Carolina 24-8 and since 2018, the Green Wave have won six of the last nine meetings including holding off the Pirates in a five setter in New Orleans last year. Six of the Pirates eight wins in the series have come at home including the last time these two teams met in Minges in 2023 when ECU swept Tulane on Oct. 6.
