Last Time Out
The Pirates earned a 64-53 win over Elon last Sunday. The team used a strong defensive effort and a 21-point outing by Taylor Barner to pull away in the second half for the win. Kennedy Fauntleroy also scored in double figures with 14 but the story of the game might have been the efforts of the ECU second unit, keyed by Bobbi Smith, who entered the game in the third quarter and played with a frenetic effort to help the Pirates go up by as many as 19 points. Smith finished the day with six points, three rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal.

Scouting UNC Asheville
The Bulldogs enter the game at 3-7 after dropping a 10-point loss to East Tennessee State in their last outing. Away from home, the team is just 1-3 entering Sunday, with a slightly better clip at home. Individually, Aileen Marquez and Nia Green are averaging in double figures with 12.1 and 11.7 points per gme with Green also leading the group with 6.0 rebounds per game. Contributing to their 3-7 record, the Bulldogs so far this season have negative margins in rebounding and turnovers per game with an assist/turnover ratio of 0.6.
Â
Series History
In a grand proximity anomaly, the Pirates and Bulldogs have played just twice ever. Both meetings came in the 1992 calendar year, once on March 3, then again on December 3. ECU won both games by scores of 83-63 and 92-58. In the spring '92 meeting, Rhonda Smith led the Pirates with a double-double on 22 points and 12 assists while Tara McMinn posted a very similar line for the Bulldogs with 22 points and 13 rebounds. In the next season's game, it was smith once again with a 26-point outing while Kim Samuels hauled in nine rebounds.

Â
Reclaim
Each season the Pirates choose an important word, meaningful to the team, to put on the back of their practice jerseys. In 2025-26, the team chose the word "Reclaim", signifying the group's goals after a turbulent 2024-25 of returning to their roots as a defensive minded team, getting back to their standards as role models in the community and striving for excellence in the classroom.
