GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's basketball team finally returns home on Wednesday evening for a 6 p.m. contest with the James Madison Dukes. Tickets are still available for purchase and for those unable to attend, the game will be available for video streaming on ESPN+ with Evan Budrovich and Brittany Hoyt on the call and radio on 94.3 The Game with Patrick Johnson on the mic.

Last Time Out
The Pirates enter Wednesday's game after a trio of contests last week in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The team went 2-1 in those games with win over Illinois State and Hofstra with the finale over the Pride being a dominant 72-53 effort. The team opened that game on a 9-0 run with another 10-0 run to end the first quarter to take a wire-to-wire victory. The Pirates knocked down six three-point shots in the game and were led in scoring by Taylor Barner's 18 points.

Scouting JMU
The Dukes enter the game 6-3 overall after thumping Wisconsin in their last outing, the team's third-consecutive win over Big 10 or ACC opponents, having last lost a game against No. 4 Texas on Nov. 19. For the season, Peyton McDaniel as averaging over 20 points per game to go with 7.1 rebounds per outing while Ashanti Barnes is posting a whisker shy of a double-double average with 13.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. The Dukes are averaging over 70 points per contest and are assisting on nearly half of their made field goals with 12.6 assists per outing.

The Pirates and Dukes have met 56 times dating back to their first meeting in an AIAW Regional contest in 1973. James Madison leads that series, 30-26, including the last four contests in 2001, 2005, 2006 and just last season. That 2024 contest was a 57-51 affair in Harrisonburg, Va. which saw Jayla Hearp and Amiya Joyner score in double figures with 15 and 14 points each. Joyner also contributed 12 rebounds. Peyton McDaniel led the Dukes with 17 points and 14 rebounds in the game.

Kennedy Fauntleroy earned American Conference Weekly Honorable Mention recognition on Monday after posting 34 points, 15 assists, eight rebounds and 11 steals in three games last week. This included a thrilling 17-point, eight-assist, six-steal effort in the Pirates' win over Illinois State.

In 2025-26, the team chose the word "Reclaim", signifying the group's goals after a turbulent 2024-25 of returning to their roots as a defensive minded team, getting back to their standards as role models in the community and striving for excellence in the classroom.
