June 27, 2025 | General
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The East Carolina athletics department finished second in the American Athletic Conference in the 2024-25 Learfield Director's Cup standings, NACDA announced on Thursday.
Finishing 128th overall national with 137.00 points, it is the highest national finish for ECU since 2016. The second-place finish among member institutions in The American is the department's highest ever.
Points are awarded in the Director's Cup standings based on NCAA postseason success in all sports with 100 points being awarded for an NCAA title and on down based on overall finish and national ranking.
The Pirates earned points in four sports in 2024-25: football for its Military Bowl victory over NC State, women's soccer for qualifying for the NCAA Tournament, baseball for qualifying for an NCAA Regional and women's indoor track for Kelly Ufodiama's All-America performance at the NCAA Championships.
It was a successful year across the board for the Pirates, finishing as one of just five schools nationally (UConn, Louisville, Tennessee & Texas) with a winning record in each of: FBS football, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, women's soccer and volleyball.
