
Men’s Golf Earns PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award

NORMAN, Okla. – The East Carolina men's golf program is a 2024-25 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award recipient the Golf Coaches Association of American (GCAA) announced Tuesday. The Pirates compiled a 3.74 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year earning the Presidents Special Recognition (3.5 or higher) while marking the 13th time since 2009 garnering the team accolade.

ECU was one of 167 NCAA Division I teams recognized for having a team GPA of 3.00 or higher (one of 74 with 3.5 or better) and one of three institutions (Rice, South Florida) from the American Conference to earn the Presidents Special Recognition. Fellow league members Charlotte, North Texas and UTSA were among those lauded for All-Academic Team honors (3.0 or higher).

In July of 2025, golfers Philip Linberg Bondestad, Tyler DeChellis, Adam Lennermark and Nathan O'Neal were selected as 2024-25 Cobalt All-America Scholars. Bondestad and Nathan O'Neal were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) At-Large All-District selections, while all nine members from the 2024-25 squad earned inclusion on the American Conference All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for GCAA Outstanding Team Academic honors a college or university must submit GPAs for each player on their official squad list for the academic year.
