
Pirates Finish Fifth At Wexford Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – East Carolina posted a tournament score of 876 (12-over) finishing in fifth place at the 20th Annual Wexford Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon. The two-day, 54-hole event was being held at the par-72, 6,884-yard Wexford Plantation Golf Course (Arnold Palmer Signature Course).
Senior Philip Lindberg Bondestad led the Pirates with a score of 215 (-1 over) carding rounds of 73, 72 and 70 recording an eighth-place finish which was his fourth Top 10 placement of the season. Fellow classmate Davis DeLille posted his second Top 20 finish of the year with a share of 17th following rounds of 74, 73 and 73 for a 4-over past 220.
Juniors Nathan O'Neal (78-75-70=223/7-over) and Drew O'Neal (76-71-77=224/8-over) finished tied for 29th and 34th, while sophomore Holden Rucker shot a 10-over par 226 (77-77-72) claiming a share of 44th place.
College of Charleston claimed team honors shooting an even par 864 (284-283-297) finishing nine strokes ahead of Xavier (873/9-over). Placing third was Western Carolina (874/10-over) followed by Mercer (875/11-over) and ECU (876/12-over). The Pirates carded rounds of 300, 291 and 285.
The Pirates will return to action Monday, March 9 when they participate in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational in Aiken, S.C.
