Durham, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team hits the road for a midweek contest on Tuesday evening as the Pirates face Duke at Smith Family Stadium on ACC Network Extra.Â
The Pirates are coming off a 4-2 week, defeating UNCW in midweek action and defeating James Madison, Towson, St. Bonaventure in the Pirate Clash but also dropping a game to both Towson and James Madison. Â
Anna Sawyer leads the Pirates at the plate with a batting average of .426 while Gabby Fowler leads the team in home runs with three. Sydney Rainford (3.07 ERA) and Julia Apostolakos (3.87 ERA) are the top two arms in the circle for the Pirates. Macey Ciamillo and Trinity Nichols both hit their first career home runs this past weekend.
Scouting the Blue Devils
D'Auna Jennings leads Duke at the plate (.556 BA) while Cassidy Curd (4.81 ERA, 28 Ks) leads the Blue Devils in the circle.
Series History
ECU faces Duke for the ninth time in program history as the Blue Devils hold 7-1 edge in the series including winning the last seven meetings. The Pirates are 0-3 on the road against Duke as the last time the Pirates were in Durham, they fell in a doubleheader in 2023.
