
Pirates to Gainesville to Participate in Florida Relays on Friday

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track and field team is prepared to take its momentum south to Gainesville for the prestigious Florida Relays. The Pirates enter the weekend with high expectations after a dominant showing at their home meet, the Bill Carson Invitational, where the squad established itself as a high competitor across both track and field disciplines.Â

The sprints were a major focal point for the men's side. Ja'Darien Parker secured a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.18, leading a top-three sweep for the program alongside Bryson Miller (10.29) and Jace Coleman(10.39). In the distance events, Aidan Herman took the top spot in the 800m with a time of 1:53.27, while Judah Lacroix (1:57.87) and Ashton Tolson (1:58.18) also posted strong finishes in the same event. On the field, Zion Glover earned a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.46m.Â
The women's team saw significant success in both track and field events. Katrina Ford won the 800m with a time of 2:10.36, followed closely by Abrielle Schweitzer in second at 2:14.39. In the sprints, Kailey Elliott finished second in both the 100m (11.86 in prelims) and the 200m (24.31).Â
The field events were highlighted by Adeline Woodward, who cleared 3.14m to win the pole vault. In the 200m, the program showed great depth with Dakota Minor (24.64), Deshay Turner (24.68) and Ciara Douglas (24.70) all finishing within the top six. Â
