
Pirates Set for Three Meets Starting Friday

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track and field team is set for a busy weekend of high-caliber competition as the Pirates split their squad across three separate events: the Duke Twilight in Durham, N.C., the Aggie Classic in Greensboro, N.C. and the Torrin Lawrence Memorial in Athens, Ga.Â
With the postseason rapidly approaching, this weekend serves as a critical opportunity for the Pirates to refine their marks and climb the conference and national leaderboards.Â
Last Time OutÂ
East Carolina track and field solidified its standing as a national contender, delivering a series of historic performances at the Aggie Invitational. The Pirates combined for multiple school records, national top-20 marks, and personal bests.Â
The sprint corps reached new heights, led by Ja'Darien Parker and Kelly Ufodiama. Parker clocked a blistering 10.17 in the 100m, moving to 19th in the nation and fourth in program history. Ufodiama surged to 18th nationally in the 100m with a time of 11.25, a mark that currently leads the American Conference.Â
The hurdles and relays also saw record-book shifts. Kailey Elliott moved into 10th place nationally with a 13.03 in the 100m hurdles, a personal best that ranks second all-time at ECU. Additionally, the men's 4x400m relay team posted a 3:04.76, vaulting to 15th in the nation.Â
Aggie Classic (Greensboro, N.C.)Â (May 1-2)Â
A select group of four Pirates will travel to Greensboro to compete in the Aggie Classic. These athletes will focus on high-intensity execution in a competitive field, looking to capitalize on the regional stage at North Carolina A&T.Â

Concurrently, the rest of the traveling squad will head south to Athens for the Torrin Lawrence Memorial. Hosted by the University of Georgia, this meet traditionally features some of the top programs in the Southeast, offering the Pirates a chance to test their mettle against Power Four talent, including Auburn, Alabama, Georgia State, etc. Â
