GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina soccer team concluded its non-conference slate with a 2-2 draw against VCU on Thursday evening at Bill Clark Homes Field at Johnson Stadium.

AJ Mayock and Lily Ridge both scored for the Pirates (1-2-5) who looked to have their first win at home in hand with a 2-0 lead with just 11 minutes remaining but a late rally from the Rams (0-5-3) forced the draw and prevented the Pirates from recording their third straight shutout.

The Pirates' lone shot of the first half was on Mayock's goal at the 31-minute mark that grazed the outstretched hand of the Rams' goalkeeper and found the top right corner to put ECU up 1-0.

Coming out of the half, ECU extended its lead early after an errant VCU pass found its way to Ridge for an easy goal at the 51-minute mark.

The Rams continued to play at a methodical pace despite the two-goal deficit and VCU got on the board in the 80th minute to cut ECU's lead to one and build some momentum down the stretch.

VCU picked up the pace and pressure in the waning minutes and the Rams' Jazmin Jackson was able to knot the contest with just five minutes to go that ultimately forced the draw.
