Tulsa, Okla. – Caitlen-Star Dolan Boodram scored a goal in the second half as East Carolina opened American Conference play with a 1-1 draw against Tulsa at Hurricane Soccer Stadium on Thursday evening.

Dolan Boodram's goal marked her second of the season for the Pirates while Isabella Gutiérrez and Ella Steck both received an assist on the goal for the Pirates (1-2-6, 0-0-1 American), who had their third straight draw for the second time this season.

East Carolina had a chance early in the first half when Dolan Boodram delivered a nifty forward pass off her heel to Gutiérrez at the three-minute mark but the Pirates were unable to convert and take an early lead.

Tulsa's golden opportunity came at the 24-minute mark as Aniya Facen beat the Pirates' defense but could not get her shot past Olivia Dietrich. The Golden Hurricane would strike in the final minutes of the half on a goal by Presley Boyd and the Pirates went into the half facing a 1-0 deficit.

The Pirates came out of the break on the attack and quickly tied the game up at 1-1 on Dolan Boodram's goal at the 47-minute mark. Both teams continued to play physical in a game that had 24 combined fouls and six combined yellow cards but neither side was able to convert on their few scoring opportunities down the stretch.
