GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina dropped a 3-0 decision to Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon at Reynolds Gym, falling 25-17, 25-15 and 25-16.

The Pirates battled throughout the opening set, but Georgia Southern pulled away late after ECU recorded 10 kills. Kai Bailey led ECU with four kills in the frame.

East Carolina continued to fight in the second set, but Georgia Southern took a 25-15 advantage. The Pirates opened the third set strong, taking an early 7-5 lead, before the Eagles responded with a 14-6 run to close out the match.

Bailey paced the Pirates with eight kills, while Angeles Alderete added seven. Brook Watkins recorded 23 assists, and Emma Ortiz led ECU defensively with 36 digs, but the Pirates could not turn those efforts into a set win. Ellie Pate contributed six kills for the Pirates.

The Pirates return to Greenville to host their final non-conference tournament, the No Quarter Invitational, which starts Thursday, September 17. ECU will take on Old Dominion at 7:00 p.m. ET.
