GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina Volleyball closes out its non-conference schedule at home Thursday, September 17, hosting the No Quarter Invitational and welcoming Old Dominion, Maryland, and Campbell to Greenville.

The tournament opens at 2:00 p.m. ET, as Campbell and Maryland face off, with the Pirates scheduled to play Old Dominion later at 7:00 p.m. ET.

DEACTOWN INVITATIONAL RECAP
The Pirates started their weekend strong against the ACC opponent, opening tournament play with their first ACC win and first program win against Wake Forest on their home court. They held the Demon Deacons to a season-low 11 points and posted a season-high hitting percentage of .329 for a hot start. However, the momentum faded against East Tennessee State, as the Pirates fought to five sets but ultimately lost. The competition stayed tight, but ETSU slightly outperformed the Pirates in every category. The Pirates' final match against Georgia Southern ended in three sets, with the Eagles taking the sweep on Sunday. With 23 errors and an under-.100 hitting percentage, the Pirates couldn't keep up with the Eagles.

INSIDE OLD DOMINION
Old Dominion is 4-4 overall going into the last weekend of non-conference play. The Monarchs have won their home tournaments, going 3-1, with two losses away and one at a neutral site. Recently hosting their Monarch Invitational, the Monarchs came out victorious in both matches against Navy (3-0) and Maryland Eastern Shore (3-1), where they also set a new program record for blocks in a single game (17.0). First-year Leilani Lawerence has been making waves for the Monarchs, leading the team in kills (141, 4.41 k/set) and points (168.5, 5.27 p/set), and nationally ranked 12th in service aces (22, 0.69 a/set). Defensively, Old Dominion totals 67.5 blocks, with Emma Schelah logging 27 block assists and Emma DiRicco five block solos. The Monarchs have faced the Pirates only once in recent history, when Old Dominion hosted East Carolina, and the Pirates swept in a close three sets in Norfolk.

INSIDE MARYLAND
The Maryland Terrapins come to Greenville off a hot weekend in their own tournament, leaving the weekend with three straight match wins in nine sets. The Terrapins have only one loss on their record, losing their first match of the year at the Big Ten-SEC Challenge at Vanderbilt to the Dores in three. On a six-game win streak, with five of the six wins ending in sweeps, Outsides Haley Melby and Sydney Bryant total 165 of the Terrapins' 347 kills, both averaging over 3.00 kills per set. The Terrapins' defense totaled 60.5 team blocks, with Duru Gökçen being the anchor, having 33.0 total blocks of her own. The Pirates have not faced the Terrapins since 2022, when they met at the Virginia Tournament. Maryland found their way through the Pirates, taking down the Purple and Gold in three sets in Charlottesville, Va.

INSIDE CAMPBELL
Campbell hosted its own tournament over the weekend, going 1-2 on Monday in Buies Creek. Holding their own against Stetson (3-1), they couldn't top the weekend opener against Ball State (0-3) or the tournament closer against Furman (1-3). The Camels have struggled on the road, going 0-2 away in their overall 3-5 record, but their neutral-site record holds more promise at 2-1. Campbell holds a .178 hitting percentage compared to their opponents' .225, the lowest hitting percentage of the four teams in the No Quarter Invitational. Victoria Tupy has 86 kills so far this year, and Ella Duong has also helped the offense with service aces (10). The Camels average 1.86 blocks per set, with Hailey Heytvelt having seven solo blocks of her 29 total blocks. The Pirates hold the overall record against Campbell, 9-4. The last time the Camels and the Pirates faced off was back in 2024 in Buies Creek, going a full five sets, with the Pirates holding the competitive final edge to solidify the win. The Pirates currently have a four-game win streak against the Camels, and their last loss to the Camels was in 2013.
