
Cross Country to Cary to Run in NC State Adidas Challenge

CARY, N.C. – East Carolina cross country returns to action Friday evening at the Adidas XC Challenge, hosted by NC State at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
The meet begins with the men's 6K at 5:50 p.m., followed by the women's 5K at 6:30 p.m. ECU will compete against 17 programs, including host NC State, Campbell, Davidson, High Point, Liberty, Longwood, NC Central, Richmond, Shaw, South Carolina, South Carolina State, UNC Greensboro, UNC Pembroke, Virginia State and Wake Forest.Â

The Pirates opened the 2026 campaign at Elon's Friday Night Lights meet on Sept. 4. ECU's women finished seventh with 219 points, while the men placed 10th with 282 points.
Kiley Mann led the Pirate women in the 4K, posting a personal-best 15:05.3 to finish 24th overall. Kiera McHugh followed in 37th at 15:25.8, while Ava Elliott crossed 45th in 15:37.0. Bella Wood and Summer Wilson completed ECU's scoring five.
On the men's side, Judah Lacroix paced the Pirates with a fifth-place finish in the 6K, crossing in 19:20.3. Ethan Welsh followed in 67th at 21:11.1, while Corbin Weeks, Wyatt Pearce and Aidan Herman completed ECU's scoring five.
Friday's meet will mark ECU's second competition of the season as the Pirates continue preparing for the remainder of the 2026 campaign and look to build on their early-season progress.
