GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina soccer team fell to UAB 2-1 in American Conference action at Bill Clark Homes Field at Johnson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Pirates fall to 2-3-6 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play with the loss and saw their streak of unbeaten matches end at five while UAB improves to 5-5-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the win.

Isabella Gutiérrez got the Pirates on the board first with a screamer at the five-minute mark of the first half and ECU held off the Blazers' attack for the reminder of the first half to go into the break with a 1-0 lead.

However, it was a tale of two halves as UAB came out with more aggression, holding possession for nearly all of the first 10 minutes of the second half and eventually knotting the game at 1-1 on a goal from Emily
Cole.

UAB continued to keep the ball on the Pirates' side of the field and grabbed all of the momentum after Vita Naihin's corner kick settled in the bottom right corner of the goal at the 68-minute mark.

The Pirates were unable to generate much of an attack in the final 20 minutes as the Blazers earned the come-from-behind win.

Olivia Dietrich had seven saves in the loss at goalkeeper for the Pirates.
