Wilmington, N.C. – The East Carolina soccer team battled in-state foe UNCW to a scoreless draw at UNCW Soccer Stadium on Thursday night.

Lauryn Taylor and Emma Fuchs attempted the lone shots for the Pirates (1-2-4) who played stout defense and got timely saves from Olivia Dietrich despite being outshot 13-3 and losing the possession battle.

Despite the Seahawks having possession for most of the first half, the Pirates picked up their attack in the latter stages of the half with their first shot of the half coming from Taylor at the 36-minute mark but UNCW's goalie prevented a goal with a save. ECU would then earn three straight corner kicks but were unable to capitalize on the set pieces and both teams went into the break locked in a 0-0 tie.

The second half was much of the same as both defenses would not let up and one last scoring attempt from UNCW in the final seconds went wide.
