
Pirates Open Season at Elon Friday Night Lights

ELON, N.C. – The East Carolina cross country teams opened the 2026 season Friday night at Elon's Friday Night Lights meet, with the Pirate women finishing seventh and the men placing 10th at the Elon Cross Country Course.Â

The ECU Women tallied 219 points on the night, finishing seventh in the standings. Kiley Mann led the women, having a notable performance with a personal best in the 4K with a time of 15.05.03, placing 24th. Kiera McHugh came close behind at 37th, with a 15.25.8, Ava Elliot placing 45th timing at 15.37.0. Bella Wood and Summer Wilson ended in 60th and 61 st, with Julia D'Errico rounding out the women in 91st. Â

On the men's side, the Pirates finished in 10th place with 282 points in the 6K. Judah Lacroix paced the Pirates with a fifth-place finish, crossing the line in 19:20.3. The junior's performance marked a strong opening to his 2026 campaign after he was one of ECU's top finishers at last year's season opener.Â

Ethan Welsh finished 67th overall with a time of 21:11.1, while Corbin Weeks placed 93rd in 21:59.0. Wyatt Pearce and Aidan Herman completed the Pirates' scoring five, posting times of 22:10.6 and 22:27.4, respectively.Â

The Pirates will return to action on Friday, Sept. 18, when they compete in the Adidas Challenge in Cary, N.C.Â
