Kevin Woodhull-Smith spent eight years as an assistant coach on the ECU coaching staff, including the last three as head assistant coach.
Woodhull-Smith helped coach the Pirates to four American Athletic Conference men's championships, while instructing four NCAA Championship participants in six national championship meets.
A native of Durham, N.C., Woodhull-Smith spent the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, N.C. State, working primarily with middle distance and distance swimmers before becoming an assistant coach for East Carolina Aquatics in 2012. During his time with ECA, Woodhull-Smith work primarily with the national group.Â
A four-year letterman at N.C. State, Woodhull-Smith was voted the team's Most Valuable as a senior in 2009-10Â season after receiving the Hardest Worker award a year earlier. He also earned the team's Most Improved award as a freshman and sophomore, and was deemed a Scholar-Athlete in six semesters.

A former school record holder in the 200 IM, Woodhull-Smith competed in the event at the 2008 Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.
Woodhull-Smith earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from N.C. State in 2010 and received his master's degree in parks, recreation, tourism and sports management two years later.
