Nandin comes to East Carolina after three years as an assistant coach at Syracuse where he was responsible for the organization of team practices, recruiting, overseeing compliance paperwork, the budget and scouting reports in addition to working with the hitters and position players on a daily basis.
During his time with Syracuse, Nandin played a crucial role in the offensive production of the Orange. In his first year with the squad, he helped increase the team's batting average by 64 points for a school-record .290 clip. Under his tutelage, the Orange set single-season records for team batting average, on-base percentage (.376) and slugging percentage (.487). The team's on-base and slugging percentage were ranked in the top four in the ACC.
With Nandin mentoring hitters, Syracuse ranked 16th in the nation in home runs per game (1.18), 26th in the NCAA in doubles per game (1.49) and 31st in the country in slugging percentage (.487) during the 2014 season. The Orange's homers per game and doubles per game marked program-highs, while the team's 5.1 runs per game was also the second-best total in school history. Additionally, the team's runs per game increased by just over one per game from 2013, while Syracuse also saw its lowest strikeout total in five years.
Prior to his stint with Syracuse, Nandin worked at Le Moyne College, his alma mater, as an assistant baseball coach for three seasons. Although he assisted in all aspects of the baseball program, Nandin's primary responsibility was working with infielders and hitters. Alongside his duties at Le Moyne, Nandin was also responsible for all baseball aspects at Homerun Softball & Baseball in Syracuse, N.Y., which included private instruction.
A Syracuse native, Nandin was a four-year starter for the Dolphins. He batted .305 during his four-year career and ranks 15th in Le Moyne history with 179 games played. Defensively, Nandin ranks third in the school's history with 471 assists and 89 double plays turned. As a junior, Nandin led the team with 76 hits and 223 at-bats, which rank sixth and fifth, respectively, on the single-season records list. That same season, Nandin garnered national honors as the All-Independent team shortstop, while batting a career-best .341.
Upon graduating from Le Moyne, Nandin signed a professional contract with the American Defenders of the Can-Am League. Following a brief stop in Columbia, where as an All-Star second baseman he helped lead the Caimanes De Barranquilla to the Colombian Winter League Championship, Nandin returned to the United States as a member of the Pittsfield Colonials where he played for two seasons. In his first season with the Colonials, Nandin was an All-Star at shortstop and led the league with 25 doubles, while ranking third in hits (118), fourth in batting average (.321) and fifth in stolen bases (25).
He split the 2012 season between the Rockland Boulders and the New Jersey Jackals before being re-acquired by the Boulders for 2013. After winning the Can-Am League Championship in 2014, finishing in the top 10 in league batting average, runs scored, hits, doubles, hit by pitch, and leading all second baseman in fielding percentage, Nandin decided to hang up his cleats after six years of playing professionally. He finished his pro career with a batting average of .288 which led him to the Can-Am League record book where's he sits at sixth all-time in doubles and ninth in hits and runs scored.
Nandin graduated from Le Moyne College in 2009 with a degree in business administration.
