Taylor Rodgers
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
- Email:
Taylor Rodgers, who helped the Texas A&M women's tennis team claim the 2024 NCAA national championship, joined the East Carolina women's tennis program as an assistant coach in July of 2024.
Â
In addition to his time in College Station, Rodgers has also served stints with the tennis programs at Tennessee and Abilene Christian University.
Â
"We are excited to have Taylor join our staff this Fall," Burgess said. "The experience he has gained at Tennessee and Texas A&M as well as from his time at ACU will be of great assistance as we continue to grow our program. We can't wait for him and his family to be Pirates!"
Â
With Rodgers on staff last season, Texas A&M put together a 28-7 overall record and 12-1 mark in Southeastern Conference play, clinching the SEC regular season title and making an appearance in the conference tournament finals. The Aggies then entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 13 overall seed and defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia to claim the program's first-ever national title. Rodgers also helped mentor Lucciana Perez to NCAA All-Tournament Team accolades (doubles) and Jeanette Mireles to SEC All-Tournament Team recognition (singles).
Â
"My family and I are so grateful to Coach Burgess for this opportunity to join the program she is building at East Carolina," Rodgers stated. "From the first call we had, I could tell that many of Coach's values aligned with mine both on and off the court. I have learned so much the past few years and cannot wait to help Pirate tennis have an impact not only in the American conference, but also in one of the best regions of college tennis in the country."
Â
Prior to joining the program at Texas A&M, Rodgers spent a year (2022-23) as the director of operations at Tennessee where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of both Vol tennis programs, including team travel, equipment, facilities, tennis camps, special events and home match coordination. He was the main contact for several events on campus – the ITA Fall Regionals and Kick-Off Weekend, UTR Pro Series and NCAA Regionals/Super Regionals – while he was also the Tournament Director of the ATP Tour Challenger Knoxville event.
Â
Rodgers arrived at Tennessee having spent the previous year and a half (June 2020-March 2022) at Abilene Christian University where he was instrumental in the inner workings of the Wildcats' men's and women's tennis programs.
Â
A 2014 graduate of ACU, Rodgers went on to serve as the tennis director of operations and volunteer assistant coach for the men's and women's programs. In addition to this, Rodgers executed social media strategy, served as the programs' recruiting coordinator and even assisted with the stringing of racquets.
