Women's Soccer Falls to 12th Ranked Charlotte
10/18/2002
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- East Carolina's women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the Charlotte 49ers (12-0-1, C-USA 6-0-1) Friday in conference play at Transamerica Field.
The game's only goal came from Charlotte freshman Courtney Crandell unassisted in the 56th minute.
ECU's goalkeeper Michelle Kmiotek made six saves for the Pirates (7-4-3, 3-2-2 C-USA) and offensively the Pirates had 10 shots.
"It was a tough loss for us," ECU coach Rob Donnenwirth said. "We played hard and had some really good performances. I felt that during the last 15 minutes we pressured them really well and had good chances to score, but Charlotte is a top team, ranked 12th in the country. I did feel that there were some momentum shifts overall in the game."
The Pirates head to Saint Louis on Sunday and return home to take on Marquette on Oct. 25 at 2 p.m.
