East Carolina Downs Liberty in Women's Soccer, 2-1

Liberty (3-6-1) jumped out to an early lead when Jenny Davis (Jr., D, Modesto, Calif.) put Liberty up, 1-0, with her goal off an assist from Katie Woodrow (Sr., F, Clifton Park, N.Y.) at the 16:18 mark.
Early in the second half, East Carolina (6-3-2) tied the game at a goal a piece when Amanda Duffy netted a goal off an assist from Meghan McCallion 58:17 into the game. The game-winner came when Hoyle scored off an assist from Duffy at the 69:13 mark.
For the game, Liberty's Christie Goodman-Williams (Jr., GK, Ramsonville, N.Y.) saved six shots, and she and Natalie Mayer (So., GK, Fort Myers, Fla.)gave up a goal apiece for the Lady Flames. East Carolina's Lauren Church saved one shot and gave up one goal.
Coach Donnenwirth commented after the game: "We did not start off well today, but played the second half like we are really capable of. Duffy was a great leader in the middle and our backs really limited them to any opportunities in the second half. Overall we made a great effort in the second half.
ECU returns to action when the Pirates host the University of Cincinnati Friday, October 11, at 4 p.m.
